Emphasis Privacy Policy

Emphasis (com.btapps.emphasis) is an Android home-screen launcher with optional Feature Phone dialer, live wallpaper, weather, and customizable home layouts. We respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles and how it is used.

1. Information We Collect

Emphasis does not sell your personal data and does not show advertisements. Most information stays on your device.

The app may store and use the following locally:

Appearance and launcher settings (home style, themes, clock/weather options, live wallpaper tuning)
Home layout data (favorites, app order, Reach pages, Carousel pins, widgets)
App launch counts used to sort or suggest frequently used apps
Optional purchase/support status cached after Google Play confirms a purchase
Your chosen weather city name and coordinates (not GPS)

When you enable optional features, Emphasis may read data from your device to display it in the app only:

Calendar — upcoming events on the home “Now” line
Contacts — Feature Phone dialer matching and Carousel People panel
Call log — recent calls in Feature Phone mode
Phone state — call connect/end status for the in-app dialer UI
Camera — Feature Phone video calling when you choose that option

This on-device data is used to power launcher features and is not uploaded to our servers. Emphasis does not operate its own user accounts or cloud sync service.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

Settings, layouts, favorites, and similar preferences are stored in app preferences on your device (Android SharedPreferences and related local storage). This information remains on your device unless included in your own Android backup. Purchase entitlement may be cached locally after Google Play verification.

3. Network and Third-Party Services

Emphasis uses the Internet for limited purposes:

Weather — when you choose a city, the app requests forecast data from Open-Meteo using the city name you enter (no GPS location permission is used)
Google Play Billing — optional in-app purchase verification

Emphasis does not use AdMob or other ad networks, and does not collect the Android Advertising ID.

4. In-App Purchases

Emphasis offers an optional one-time purchase called Emphasis Upgrade (Google Play product ID: emphasisupgrade) using Google Play Billing. All launcher features are included in the app; the purchase is optional support. We do not receive, process, or store your payment information. 5. Permissions

The app may request the following permissions. Optional permissions are requested at runtime only when a feature needs them.

Query installed apps — list and launch apps (core launcher functionality)
Internet / network state — weather lookups and Play Billing
Set wallpaper — live wallpaper support
Vibrate — brief haptics in Feature Phone mode
Calendar (optional) — show upcoming events on the home screen
Contacts (optional) — dialer contact matching and Carousel People panel
Phone / calls (optional) — place, answer, or end calls from Feature Phone mode
Call log (optional) — show recent calls in Feature Phone mode
Camera (optional) — Feature Phone video calling
Do Not Disturb access (optional) — switch to full silent from Feature Phone LCD
Google Play Billing — optional purchase/support

Emphasis does not request SMS, microphone, or GPS/location permissions.

6. Children

Emphasis is a general-audience launcher and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. Any material changes will be reflected in an updated version of the app and this page.
